LifeShare Blood Centers Issues Urgent Appeal for Group O Donors

After days of continued high need, including an increase in trauma cases, LifeShare Blood Centers is reporting a critical shortage of type O-negative blood, which can be given to anyone in emergency.  LifeShare is urging all area residents who have type O-negative blood to donate as soon as possible.  Donors may give blood at any LifeShare Blood Center location or on mobile blood drives.  For more information about blood donation or to find a conviently located donation center or mobile blood drive, visit www.lifeshare.org.

The Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Department reported three arrests over the last 24 hours:

Jay Bernard Gabler, white male, 51, was arrested on charges of failure to register as a sex offender by the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Department.  He remains in jail.

Joshua Eli Sanchez, white male, 19, was arrested on charges of aggravated sexual battery by the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Department.  He remains in jail.

Matthew Stephen Pulley, white male, 24, was arrested on charges of possession of schedule II, possession of drug paraphenlia, driving under suspenseion by the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Department.  He remains in jail.

There are currently 126 inmates being housed by the Sabine Parish Detention Center.

State Senate Considering Capitol Outlay Funding for Sabine Parish

On May 15, Representative Frankie Howard and members of the LA House of Representatives passed HB2, the Capitol Outlay bill, which will secure funding for projects in Sabine Parish.  Senator Gerald Long has been working along Representative Howard. 

Sabine Parish Teachers of the Year for 2008-09 Annouced

Every school year parish schools choose a teacher to represent them in the teacher of the year contest for Sabine Parish.  The teachers are judged by a panel representing each parish community.  This year’s representatives for Sabine Parish are:  Mary Beth Van Sickle of Many Elementary is Sabine Parish Elementary Teacher of the Year; Joanie Dahlem of Florien High is Intermediate Teacher of the Year; and Roma Veuleman of Negreet High is High School Teacher Year.

Megan Elizabeth Morales, white female, 25, was arrested on charges of simple criminal damage to property, child indangerment, domestic violence by the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Department.  She bonded.

Archie L. Charles, black male, 57, was arrested on charges of theft by shoplifting by the Many Police Department.  He remains in jail.

Anthony Juan Durr, white male, 35, was arrested on charges of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile by the Sabine Parish Police Department and Pleasant Hill Police Department.  He remains in jail.

Michael Wayne Smith, white male, 35, was arrested on charges of DWI first offense, careless operation, no seat belt by Louisiana State Police.  He remains in jail.

There are currently 123 inmates being housed by the Sabine Parish Detention Center.

Johnnie W. Thompson, white male, 46, was arrested on charges of DWI second offense and driving left of center by the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Department.  He remains in jail.

Camille Perry Alizzi, white female, 35, was arrested on charges of domestic abuse battery under the family violence act by the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Department. She bonded.

Kedrick McClanahan, black male, 17, was arrested on charges of unauthorized entry inhabited dwelling, theft over $500, simple burglary by the Fisher Police Department.  He remains in jail.

Martez R. Sweet, black male, 17, was arrested on charges of unauthorized entry inhabited dwelling, theft over $500 and simple burglary by the Fisher Police Department.  He remains in jail.

Carnelius J. Sweet, black male, 20, was arrested on charges of unauthorized entry inhabited dwelling, theft over $500, and simple burglary by the Fisher Police Department.  He remains in jail.

Anthony C. Bennett, black male, 21, was arrested on charges of unauthorized entry inhabited dwelling, theft over $500, and simple burglary by the Fisher Police Department.  He remains in jail.

Joshua J. Garcie, white male, 23, was arrested on charges of DWI 1st offense by the Louisiana State Police.  He bonded.
