The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department reported three arrests over the last 24 hours:
Blake Corwin, black male, 45, was arrested on charges of probation violation by probation and parole. He remains in jail.
Mark A. Dowdy, white male, 39, was arrested on charges of 21 counts of simple burglary by Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department. He remains in jail.
Vickey Brant Lucas, white female, 44, was arrested on charges of disturbing the peace, possession of schedule II, possession of schedule IV, and possession of legend drug by Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department. She remains in jail.

The Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Department reported one arrest over the last 24 hours:
Ronnie Turner, black male, 44, was arrested on charges of attempted second degree murder by Many Police Department. He remains in jail.
There are currently 155 inmates being housed by the Sabine Parish Detention Center.
August 1-2 is Statewide Sales Tax Holiday

The annual Statewide Tax Holiday will be held this Friday and Saturday. Druing the sales tax holiday, there will be a state sales tax exemption for the first $2,500 of the purchase price of most items of tangible personal property for non-business use. The holiday only applies to the four percent state sales tax and not to sales taxes levied by parishes, municipalities, school boards, and other state political subdivisions. The exemptions applies to all consumer purchases of tangible personalproperty other than motor vehicle and meals sold for consumption on the premises, including togo orders. The exemption doesn’t apply to purchases made for use in business, trade or professions. In addition to the specific exclusions for motor vehicles and meals, the state sales tax holiday does not apply to purchases of taxable services such as hotel occupancy, amsuement, recreational and athletic admissions, repairs to tangible personal property, laundry, cleaning, pressing, and dyeing services; vehicle parking the furnishing of cold storage space; printing services, and telecommunication services or to leases or rentals of tanible personal property.
Sabine 9-10 Year Dixie Girls All-Star Team Headed to World Series

A group of young ladies have made history for Sabine Parish. They are the first Dixie Girl team from Sabine Parish to win the State Tournament. The 9-10 year old girls team composed of girls from around the parish are: Abby McMillan, Caitlyn Corley, Bailey McCleary, Ashlyn Etheridge, Adrianna Phillips, Hannah Lancaster, Caroline Matthews, Ashley Lafitte, Alyssa DeLatin, Caroline Settle, Kaitlin Davis, and Amber French. The girls are coached by Kelvin Matthews, Clay Corley, and Todd Lafitte. The girls won the District 7 Championship and then went on to win the State Tournament. The World Series will be held in Alexandria from August 1-6. Good luck girls!

The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department reported four arrests over the last 24 hours:
Thomas Ginn, white male, 39, was arrested on charges of probation violation by probation and violation. He bonded.
Kyrie Nicole Miller, white female, 22, was arrested on charges of domestic abuse battery by Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department. She remains in jail.
Limuel F. Ferguson, white male, 19, was arrested on charges of possession with intent, possession of drug paraphenlia, and contributing to a juvenile by Task Force. He remains in jail.
Jake Biasizzo, white male, 17, was arrested on charges of contributing to a juvenile and possession of marijuana by Task Force. He remains in jail.

Loretta Banin Viator, white female, 38, was arrested on charges of simple burglary and theft over $500 by Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Department. She remains in jail.
Donna Perkins, white female, 51, was arrested on charges of accessory after the fact by Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Department. She bonded.
Rickey Booth, black male, 23, was arrested on charges of bench warrant by Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Department. He remains in jail.
Elwin Hale, black male, 31, was arrested on charges of possession of schedule II and resisting an officer by Many Police Department. He remains in jail.

James N. Stephens, white male, 25, was arrested on charges of DWI 1st and improper display of plates by Louisiana State Police. He bonded.
Stacie A. McClendon, white female, 36, was arrested on charges of DWI 1st offense and improper lane usage by Louisiana State Police. She bonded.
