Zwolle Loggers Queen and Court

loggers-court-128x160-2.jpgloggers-queen-128x160-2.jpgThe 15th Annual Zwolle Logger’s Festival held their annual pagent on April 25th.  LeAnna Phillips was crowned this year’s new queen.  Joining Ms. Phillips on the court is Teen Queen-Brittny Remedies, Jr. Queen-Erin Rivers, Petite Miss-Kylee Rawls, Little Miss-Hallayanna Sepulvado, Tiny Miss-Alaina Duran, Toddler Miss-Alyssa Rutherford, T’Nincy Miss Laiken Ferguson, and Baby Miss-Macy Malmay.

The Zwolle Loggers Festival will be held May 8th-9th at Zwolle Festival Grounds.  On Friday they will forestry skills competition and the kickoff festivities will start at 5pm until midnight.  There will be food booths, craft booths, Million dollar display of equipment.  Free for the children will be jumping booths, funslide, face painting, and put put golf.   The entertainment for Friday night is Frank Ott and the Hell Yes Band.  On Saturday will be the Henrietta Rivers Memorial 5K Run, opening cermonies, parade starting at 11am.  The popular mud bog competition starts at 3pm. New to the festival is the rib cook-off.   Live entertainment for Saturday night will be Next of Kin starting at 6pm and Wayne Toupes starting at 9pm.  Also on both nights will be DJ Kurt Sepulvado.  There is plenty to do and see at the 15th Annual Loggers Festival, so come out and enjoy the festival.

Donald

Joseph Donald Paddie, 48, of Ebarb passed away on April 29th at his residence after a lenghty battle with colon cancer.  Visitation is April 30th at Warren Meadows in Zwolle starting at 12pm.  Services are May 1st at 2pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery.  Donald is survived by his wife, Connie Paddie; sons:  Brent Paddie and Clint Paddie and fiance Krystal Turnley; mother, Mildred Paddie and special friend, Huey Malmay; sisters:  Cathy Rivers and husband Wade, Sherry Sepulvado and husband Tommy, Kimberly Parrie and husband Phillip; a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and numerous Godchildren.  Pallbearers are:  Jeffery Martinez, Mark Martinez, Kevin Martinez, Randy  Rivers, Gary Procell, Rodney Rivers, and Gary Rivers.  He is preceded in death by his father Joseph Shane Paddie, maternal grandparents:  Ben and Gracie Sepulvado, and paternal grandparents:  Foster and Lena Paddie.

Ms. Emma Eloise McMillian, 92, of Many, La., passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at the Sabine Retirement Center, Many, La. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 2 P.M. at the Pisgah Ward 2 Cemetery, with Rev. Wilton Anthony, officiating. Interment will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery.

Emma, was preceded in death by her parents; Percy McMillian and Edwin Kelly McMillian, daughter; Vida Sue McMillian, 2 brothers; Arthur McMillian, Ellis “Shorty” McMillian.

She is survived by her aunt, Eileen Carnahan of Lake Charles, La., uncle, Lee Kelly of Toro, La., niece, Kathy Menard of Toro, La., nephew, Kenny McMillian of Orange, Tx., host of other nieces, nephews and friends.

 Charles Raymond Shoemaker, age 73, of Robeline, Louisiana, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center.

Brother Raymond was born on March 31, 1937 in the Shamrock Community. He was a proud member of the US Military who served in Korea. Bro. Raymond served as Sunday School Superintendent, Church Leader and Minister at Hickory Grove Congregational Methodist Church for more than 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Lillie Shoemaker of Robeline; 4 brothers, Clyde Shoemaker, Bobby Shoemaker and Clifford Shoemaker all of Robeline; Kenneth Shoemaker and wife Sarah of Natchitoches, La.; 2 sisters, Ruthie Taylor of Robeline and Carolyn Ensinger and husband Oscar of Natchitoches; 5 nephews and 6 nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Shoemaker, mother, Lizzie Carnline Shoemaker and nephew, Shad Taylor.

Visitation will be at the Hickory Grove CM Chrch in Robeline, La. beginning at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 30th, 2009. Funeral serices under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home, Many, La.,will be on Friday, May 1st, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Brian Jennings officiating; assisted by the Revs. Henry Butler, Robert Jackson, D. P. Lewing, Peggy Maricelli, Charles Sheomaker, and Adrian Thompson. Interment will be at Lambertown Cemetery in Robeline, La.

Pallbearers are: Shannon Byles, Jerry Carnline, Toby Carnline, Buzz Jenkins, Johnnie Jenkins, Jeff Rachal, DeWayne Shoemaker, and James Shoemaker. Honorary Pallbearers; Burke Simmons, Jim Floyd, A.J. O’con, and Jim Freeman.

The Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Department reported four arrests over the last 24 hours:

Pquawn P. Moore, black male, 30, was arrested on charges of simple battery and flight from an officer by Many Police Department.  He remains in jail.

Corey L. Garner, black male, 24, was arrested on charges of bench warrant from Florien by Florien Police Department.  He remains in jail.

Latham J. Pegues, black male, 26, was arrested on charges of illegal tinted window, suspension/revocution of drivers license, and flight from an officer by Many Police Department.  He bonded.

Tarek R. Price, black male, 32, was arrested on charges of Sabine Parish bench warrant for child support, DUS, and expired license plate by Zwolle Police Department.  He remains in jail.

There are 130 inmates currently housed at the Sabine Parish Detention Center.

Carter Shanklin, black male, 18, was arrested on charges of indecent behavior with a juvenile by Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department.  He bonded.
