September 28, 2009

redoneimg_5282.jpgPLEASANT HILL, LOUISIANA September 28, 2009 – Earlier today, a Pleasant Hill student received a pleasant surprise. Chesapeake Energy Corporation’s Discovering Tomorrow’s Leaders contest made its second visit to the parish to award an outstanding student with a special plaque and a computer to her school.
Victoria Arnold, a 16-year-old student at Pleasant Hill High School, was recognized for her service and leadership qualities within the 4-H Club, FFA and her community. For her win, Chesapeake will donate a desktop computer to her school and she will be eligible for a grand prize drawing of a brand new laptop.
During a school-wide, morning assembly, Victoria was recognized by Sarie Joubert, Chesapeake’s Manager of Public Affairs, in front of parents and fellow students at Pleasant Hill High School. Joubert spotlighted Victoria’s accomplishments and announced the new computer the school would be receiving.
Victoria was selected as a winner in Sabine Parish for her extensive volunteer work through the 4-H Club and FFA, including mentoring peers in 4-H and teaching her classmates about health and fitness though her involvement in the state 4-H Food & Fitness Board. In addition to her volunteer work, Victoria recently won the state competition in FFA for public speaking and will represent Louisiana at the national competition in mid-October.
Victoria was selected from more than 80 nominations and judged on qualities of leadership, character, volunteerism and a sense of community.
