Bossier City Teen Couple’s Suspected Murder-Suicide
June 30, 2010
Parental pressure over a relationship may have contributed to a Bossier City teen couple’s murder-suicide.
An uncle found the bodies of the teens in a pickup about 5 p.m. Tuesday on West Viking Drive just north of Bossier City. Family members had filed a missing persons report with the Bossier City Police Department in the past couple of days, said Ed Baswell, Bossier Parish sheriff’s office spokesman.
A deputy responding to the incident found the boy in the driver’s seat and the girl in the passenger seat. Both died of a gunshot wound. The deputy recovered a gun from the pickup, Baswell said.
“They were apparently in a dating relationship, and there was some parental resistance to the two being together,” Baswell said.
The investigation is ongoing, but Bossier Parish sheriff’s detectives don’t suspect foul play by a third person, according to Baswell
Alli Callenders To Undergo Sixth Round of Chemo
June 30, 2010
Alli Callender of Pleasant Hill, who was diagnosed with a malignant tumor earlier this year, is doing well following her fifth round of chemotherapy according to her mother, Paula Callender.
In a week or two, she will return for more doctors visits and a sixth round, after which they will repeat the scans and tests that were performed in February. Depending on what the tests find, they will order more chemo if the cancer remains, or the young eagle will go for stem cell transplants. The stem cell transplants are the most critical stage of her treatment, and will mean she must be isolated as an inpatient for four-six weeks.
“Hopefully, if everything stays on track, she can be home in November,” Mrs. Callender said.
