Funeral Services for Phillip Aaron Brian, 66, of Belmont, LA, will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Spring Ridge Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill, LA with Bro. Hoy Leach and Rev. Dean Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Ridge Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, LA. Visitaiton will begin on Friday, February 17, 2012, at 5:00 PM at Spring Ridge Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill, LA.
Phillip Aaron Brian was born on Monday, May 07, 1945 in Pleasant Hill, LA. He passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Sabine Medical Center in Many,LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, O.C. “Scrooge” Brian and Cora Elizabeth Dyes Brian.
He is survived by two brothers, Gilbert Brian of Belmont, LA and Olin Dean Dyes and wife Marceil of Belmont, LA; three nieces, Sondra Harrison and husband Andrew of Thibodaux, LA; Karla Williams and husband John of Belmont, LA and Traci Tatum and husband Eric of Buna, TX; four great nieces, Emma Harrison of Thibodaux, LA; Olivia Harrison of Thibodaux, LA; Lacy Williams of Belmont, LA and Emma Brian of Belmont, LA; one nephew, Nicholus Brian of Belmont, LA; three great nephews, Caleb Willliams of Belmont, LA; Ethan Brian of Belmont, LA and Jordan Brian also of Belmont, LA; sister-in-law, Bobbye and Merle Phillips of Bossier City, LA. Phillip was like a second father to Traci Tatum and husband Eric of Buna, TX and Nicholus Brian of Belmont, LA. Ethan, Jordan and Emma Brian all of Belmont, LA made the sun rise and the stars shine according to their Uncle Phillip. Phillip Brian is also survived by a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral Services for Mamie Lee Small, 94, of Florien, LA, will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Florien with Bro. Patrick Morgan and Bro. Bobby Franklin officiating. Burial will follow in the Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery, Florien, LA. Visitaiton will begin on Friday, February 17, 2012, at at First Baptist Church of Florien.
Mamie Lee Small was born on Saturday, October 20, 1917 in Negreet, LA. She passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria,LA. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Sallie Cook Manning; husband, Herbert Younger Small; son, Michael Herbert Small and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Juanita Bush and husband Don of Florien, LA; Helen Orchid and husband Bill of Onalaska, TX and Mamie Bush and husband Gary of Shreveport, LA; one sister, Edna Miller of Leesville, LA; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be George Manning, James Mann, Johnny Mann, Curtis Mann, Justin Bush and Gary Bush.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Thompson, Ben D. Peterson, Henry Davis and V.L. Leach.

Mary Helen Slaydon Smith, 87, of Merryville, Louisiana, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from Lake Charles Memorial Hospital following a brief battle with lung cancer, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary Helen was born on September 3, 1924, in Merryville, Louisiana, to the parents of Cullen Edward and Sally Ethel Slaydon. She was a 1942 graduate of Merryville High School. She married the love of her life, Edwin Herman Smith, Sr., on June 14, 1941. He preceded her in death after nearly 58 years of marriage.
Mary Helen was a firm believer in the strength of her family. Her greatest joy was having all of her children and grandchildren together for holidays or a special meal. She attended several churches during her childhood and young adult years, instilling Christian values in her children. In 1969 she became a member of First United Pentecostal Church in DeRidder and in 1997 began attending Grace Church where she was an active member until her death. She looked forward every Sunday to hearing her pastors speak and was very outspoken recently, telling one of them she enjoyed his wife’s teaching over his because his wife’s teaching had depth. She leaves a huge hole in the heart of everyone who knew and loved her and will be remembered most for her determination and love of God.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Slaydon and husband Bobby, Sr. of DeRidder, LA, and Charlotte Fountain and husband Jerry of Merryville. One son, Edwin Herman Smith, Jr. and wife Lynne of Hampshire, England. Six grandsons, Bobby Slaydon, Jr., and wife Karen of Many, LA, Kevin Slaydon and wife Lori of Rosepine, LA, Mark Smith and wife Rosy of Magnolia, TX, Micah Smith of Humble, TX, Jeremy Fountain and wife Lori of DeRidder, LA, Zachary Fountain of Merryville, LA. Two grand-daughters, Anna Lisa Pollock and husband Troy of Anacoco, LA, Stephanie Snyder and husband Chris of Beaver Dam Kentucky. Mary Helen was also blessed with eight great-grandsons, and seven great-granddaughters.
Sisters-in-laws Zoe Slaydon of Merryville, LA, Alma Johnson of Evans, LA, and Blanche Reynolds and husband Aubon of Houma, LA. Brothers-in-laws Norris H. Smith of Evans, LA, and Ercole Favaloro of Metairie, LA.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, being predeceased by her parents, Cullen and Ethel Slaydon, sisters Newasa Grant, and Gussie Cooper, brother Cullen Slaydon, Jr. and a brother who died shortly after birth.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 18, 2012, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Labby Funeral Home in DeRidder. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 19, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Grace Church in DeRidder. Services will be conducted by Pastor George Lee Glass, Rev. George L. Glass, Jr., Rev. James Glass, Rev. Jerry Fountain and Rev. Trent Holman. Interment will be in Cooper Cemetery on Hwy. 190W.

Funeral Service for Bonnie Rosetra Maria Chapman, 74, will be held on Monday, February 20, 2012 at 10:00AM, Palestine Baptist Church, Grant, LA. Rev. Dore Langley and Rev. Hardy Estes will officiate the service. Burial will be at Hamilton Cemetery, Grant, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA.
Visitation will begin on Sunday, February 19, 2012, 6:30 PM until 10 PM at the church and Monday, 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
Bonnie was born on April 13, 1937, to Edna & Frank Wilson Little Rock, Arkansas. She grew up in Los Angeles, CA and she has lived in Grant, LA for most of her life. She was a member of Palestine Baptist Church and was a retired nurse’s aide. She loved her dogs but especially loved her two grandsons. She passed from this life on Thursday, February 16, 2012, at her residence in Grant, LA.
She is survived by one son, Andrew Johnson and wife Twilla of Grant, LA; one daughter, Cindy Mahaffey and husband Greg of Dry Creek, LA; one brother, Leroy Wilson of Colorado; 2 grandchildren, Garrett and Ryan. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Megan Mahaffey.
