She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Gandy and son, Michael Deen Goodson.

Donald Wayne Morgan Obituary 1/26/12

Donald Wayne Morgan, 66, of Shreveport died on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at Christus Schumpert Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was born on July 5, 1945 in Shreveport, Louisiana and graduated from Woodlawn High in 1963.

He retired as Assistant Chief after 33 years with the Shreveport Police Department. Following his retirement, he worked as a detective with the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Department for 7 years. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, 1965-1966. He volunteered as Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 18 of which his son was a member. He was a faithful Christian and active member of Grace Community UMC for 11 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Elizabeth Meador Morgan, and his brothers, John and Robert Morgan. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Patti Morgan; his 3 sisters, Patricia Miller of Zwolle, LA; Doris Jane Bennett of Blanchard, LA and Rebecca Wright of Flower Mound, TX; 1 brother, Skip Morgan of Stuart Beach, FL; three children, Krissie Rizzuto and Kara Morgan of New Orleans, LA and Matthew Morgan of Shreveport, LA; five grandchildren, Joshua Benitez, Cicely Rizzuto, Ciarra Rizzuto, Max Rizzuto and Beau Bornmann of New Orleans; countless nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, scouts and friends.

A Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Grace Community UMC in Shreveport with Rev. Sione Tu’uta officiating. Internment will be at 2:00 PM at Shady Grove Cemetery in Noble, LA.

The family will receive friends beginning at 8:30 AM until time of service at the church.

Leatha L. Rivers, 94, born April 28, 1917 in Ebarb, LA; entered into rest January 24, 2012 in Zwolle, LA. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 25 from 5pm-10pm and on Thursday from 8am-10pm at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Zwolle, LA. A rosary will be at 6 pm on Wednesday and Thursday evening. Visitation continues the day of the funeral from 8am until the Funeral Mass at 11 am in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Mrs. Leatha was preceded in death by her parents, Lucy S. Ebarb and Pat Leone; husband, Jacob Leroy Rivers; infant son, Steve Rivers; and brother, Jack Garcie. She is survived by sister, Ethel Remedies; Aunt Helen Schoth; 6 children, Betty Rivers, Martha Henderson, Nancy May, Jake Rivers, Roy Rivers, and Gary Mark Rivers. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She is also survived by her loving poodle, Gabby. Honoring her as pallbearers will be grandsons and granddaughters.

Mrs. Leatha had a strong Catholic faith; rosary beads and prayer books were her constant companion. She was also a master quilter and excellent cook, chicken-n-dumplings were her specialty.

Among her dear friends that will miss Mrs. Leatha are special sister-in-law, Ms. Margie Rivers and roommate, Mrs. Tulla Malmay

Dalton, the son of Elbert L. and Mary Helen Craft Perkins was born on August 10, 1936, in Leesville, Louisiana. He passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012, at his residence in Leesville, LA. Red loved to quail hunt, horseback riding and traveling. But most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Sherry, the daughter of Kenneth J. and Linda J. Kirchgessner LeCompte was born on August 7, 1979, in Landstuhl, Germany. She passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, LA. Sherry was a 1998 graduate of Leesville High School. She loved her children & spending time with them at baseball games and bowling. She was a Saints fan. She was a member of St. Michaels the Archangel Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her son, Jesse E. Buck III; daughter, Kasey L. Buck; parents, Kenneth & Linda LeCompte; brother, Trevor S. LeCompte all of New Llano, LA and a host of other relatives and friends.

Lucy D. Slaughter was born on Wednesday, June 04, 1941 in Shreveport, LA. She passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Byrd Regional Hospital in Leesville, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Jewel Ellzey Brown and her husband, Raymond T. Slaughter.

She is survived by three daughters, Rita E. Slaughter, Florien, LA; Joyce M. Airhart and husband Johnny, Hornbeck, LA and Tena Funderburk and husband Dave, Coldwater, MS; one son, Keith Slaughter and wife Tammy, Hornbeck, LA; two sisters, Retha Rogers and husband Billy, Many, LA and Judith Killian, Many, LA; one brother, Homer L. Lois Levenua Mitchell was born on Monday, October 11, 1915 in Snow Hill, AR. She passed away on Monday, January 16, 2012 at Sabine Retirement & Rehabilitation Center in Many,LA. She was preceded in death by her parents, William “Jack” Raymond Collins and Eva Idealia Collins; husband, Arvel E.C. Mitchell; daughter, Carylon Langton; son, Elwin Jerome Mitchell; two sisters, two brothers; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Lavonne Davis, Shreveport, LA; Linda Kathlene Montrose, Alexandria, LA and Velora Ann Guess, Hornbeck, LA; two sons, Elton C. Mitchell, Santa Fe, TN and William Henry Mitchell, Haughton, LA; three sisters, Fay Davis, Kilgore, TX; Kay Jones, Grants Pass, OR and Ray Gore, Sunnyvale, TX; thirty three grandchildren; fifty three great grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Maudie Hennigan was born October 8, 1908 in Vernon Parish to Spicey Mae McInnis Williams and W. W. “Billy” Williams. On September 14, 1924, she married Clyde Lenton Hennigan of Merryville. On Tuesday morning January 10, 2012, at the age of 103, Maudie passed away at the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons - Frank and Kenneth, three grandsons - Paul “Junior”, Randy, and Ricky Hennigan; brother - J. D. Williams; daughter in-law - Patsy Hennigan; and son in-law - Ben Locke. She was proud of her 11 children, their spouses and families - Adolph and Terri Hennigan, John and Margurite Holston, Rudolph and Ivon Hennigan, Paul and Penny Mae Hennigan, Frank and Elouise Hennigan, Ben and Georgia Sue Locke, Kenneth and Patsy Hennigan, Wayne and Maria Hennigan, Ed and Elaine Jirouch, Michael and Beatrice Meadors, and Micah and Patsy Hennigan. She was known as “Grannie” to her grandchildren and many others, “Aunt Maudie” to her nieces and nephews, and “Sis. Hennigan” to her church family. Grannie was blessed with 35 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.

Serving the Lord, caring for her family, cooking, and gardening were the important things in her life. Maudie touched the lives of many with her determination to “never give up”, displaying this characteristic strength all the way to the end. She looked forward to special occasions such as “July 4th”, her birthday and “Christmas Dinner” when she would make chicken and dumplings, turkey and dressing, coconut cake, chocolate pie and much, much more. Many of the grandchildren remember eating watermelon, ice-cream, tea cakes, biscuits, fried chicken, fried fish and even frog legs at Grannie’s house.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Brian Martin and the staff at Natchitoches Community Care Center, and Dr. Otis Barnum and his staff.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 12, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00pm at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many, Louisiana. The funeral service will be held in the Warren Meadows Chapel at 11:30am Friday morning January 13. Interment will be at the Self Cemetery near Hornbeck.

Grace Ebarb Ferrage passed from this life surrounded by her family on January 8, 2012. She was born June 17, 1928 in Ebarb, Louisiana, and lived in New Orleans since 1946. She fought a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was preceeded in death by her husband Michel Ferrage, parents Emma Lee and Cleve Ebarb, and sister Reeda Malmay. Survived by her only child Pamela Grace Ferrage Noya Molnar (Istvan), grandchildren Stephen Michael and Elizabeth Grace Noya. Also survived sisters Verda Ebarb, Margie Henderson, Lula Procell, Gail Bridges, and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
