Many Tigers End Football Season 11-2

December 1, 2009

mt.jpgFriday Night, November 27, The Fighting Many Tiger Football team suited up in their gear, like any other Friday night, not knowing that this would be the last time they would do this. The Tigers knew they had a tough team to go against, Evangel Christian Academy. Last year when the Tigers faced the Evangel Eagles things were not pretty. In very sloppy conditions, the Eagles upset the Tigers with a 51-0 loss ending their season. Hoping to defeat the Eagles this year, the Tigers took the field around 6:30 with their pregame ritual of The Sledgehammer. Nic Jacobs was the holder of it. Tiger fans were on their feet as he came out to the 50 yard line and put the hammer in the ground. Fireworks went off also. Tiger fans came early to ensure they had a seat! Evangel brought a nice crowd also. Unfortunately Evangel was just to much for the Tigers and ended their season once again with a 53-7 win over them. The Many Tigers finished their 2009-2010 season 11-2, ranked #7, and are back to back 3-2A District Champs. Those football players definitely have something to be proud of! This community has backed them up in everything they do and will continue to. As Coach Menard says, “We have better guys than we do players”. The team is losing 11 seniors: Trey Guccione, D.J. Palmer, P.J. Parson, Warren Evans, D.J. Ward, Jacob Heard, Lance Leone, Zach Murphy, Ken Underwood, Randy Pierce, and Nic Jacobs. Congratulations go out to these guys on a GREAT season and good luck in the future! We would also like to thank the coaching staff and Many Tiger Fans on a great season. And we cant forget all the sponsors who helped make the broadcast on the radio possible. Without yall, we couldnt have done it. See yall next year. GO TIGERS!!!!

Many Tigers, 3-2A Back to Back District Champs!

November 8, 2009

mt.jpgThe visitor stands and sidelines were packed Friday night, November 6, as the Many Tigers traveled to Alexandria to take on the Menard Eagles and defend their title of 3-2A District Champs. Tiger fans were on their feet the entire game as the score stayed incredibly close right down to the 4th quarter. Palmer scored the winning touchdown from 17 yards out with 42 seconds left. C.J. Sweet spoiled Menard’s last gasp drive with an interception at the Many 17. The Menard Eagles put up a fight, but were no match for the Many Tigers. Many Quarterback D.J. Palmer was also too much for the Eagles. Palmer rushed for 259 yards and five touchdowns and he passed for 263 yards and two touchdowns. Now Many Tigers are in playoff mode and will play Pope John Paul for the 1st round of playoffs at Tiger Stadium this Friday so come out and support your District Champs!! If your unable to attend the game you can catch all the action on 99.9 KTEZ with Randy Bostain and Brad Ford beginning at 7.

New Orleans Saints, Undefeated But Not Perfect…

November 6, 2009

And it was all that the New Orleans Saints needed Monday night to remain unbeaten with a 35-27 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Saints quarterback Drew Brees struggled at times — he had a fumble returned for a touchdown, as well as an interception — but he still managed to throw for 308 yards on a 25-of-33 slate with two touchdowns. The Saints’ past two victories have been riddled with errors, starting with eight turnovers, six of which were committed by the quarterback with four interceptions and a pair of fumbles. “You look at it — four turnovers against Miami, four again against Atlanta — and those were good football teams we played and we were able to overcome them because of great defensive play and making some big plays offensively when we had to,” Brees said. But the fact of the matter is: That stuff gets you beat. At some point it catches up to you. Brees also stated that there is alot of things they need to improve on, so the question is how long can the Saints go undefeated?…The only other undefeated team in the NFL is the Indianapolis Colts.

Bobby Jindal Can Taste The Bar-B-Que

June 25, 2009

Govenor Bobby Jindal has won the bet with Texas Govenor Perry about the NCAA College World Series Championship.  Jindal and Perry had bet Perry’s Bar-B-Que to Jindal’s Seafood on the outcome of the Texas/LSU Finals.  LSU won the Championship with an 11-4 win over Texas in the final game on June 24, 2009.

LSU, which two years ago wasn’t good enough to qualify for its conference tournament, is the best team in college baseball again.  The Tigers won their sixth national title Wednesday night, breaking open Game 3 of the College World Series finals with a five-run sixth inning that carried them to an 11-4 victory over Texas.  Jared Mitchell hit a three-run homer in the first inning as LSU (56-17) built a 4-0 lead.  Texas (50-16-1) pulled even, but Mikie Mahtook’s tie-breaking double ignited the Tigers’ big sixth against the mistake-prone Longhorns.  Anthony Ranaudo (12-3) got the win in a so-so outing that saw him allow four runs on eight hits and five walks in 5 1-3 innings. Brandon Workman (3-5) took the loss.
